Chris Barrett, who has helped build Limestone College into a perennial power in NCAA Division II men’s lacrosse, was installed as the third head coach in the six year history of the Crusaders program on August 18, 2011.
In his first year as the Crusaders head coach, Barrett was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year. With his selection, all three of the Abbey’s men’s lacrosse coaches in its history have been named Coach of the Year in their first year on the Crusader sideline. Barrett guided an offense that saw five players score at least ten goals, one short of a program-high, while seven players registered double digit points, which is just one shy of the school record.
Barrett, a native of East Islip, New York, assumed his first head coaching position after spending eleven years as a member of the Limestone Saints lacrosse program, the last seven as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
A 2004 graduate of Limestone and a four-year midfielder, Barrett has appeared in five NCAA national championships and eleven straight NCAA Semifinals as a player and coach, all with the Saints.
